Extra, Extra, Paw All About It!

Raining Cats and Dogs will be starting a renovation on July 1, 2011 to give our beautiful store a facelift and officially become Crate Escape too. The retail store and daycare will be closed until August 1,2011 (at the latest.) Our daycare pups are invited and encouraged to go to our sister store, Crate Escape, located a little over a mile from RCD on the Cambridge/ Belmont line. We have a special pen set aside for your smaller dogs and your favorite RCD personalities will be there too (of course!) We are here to help you with any questions you have and we will do our best to accommodate!

Crate Escape carries all of the same food lines as Crate Escape too. In addition, they have most of the same treats, many toys and some leashes and collars. As you probably know, we just completed a renovation at Crate last winter; we are excited to show everyone our modern, sleek, warehouse decor!

We are thrilled to host our first ‘Meet and Greet’ at Crate Escape this Sunday. BrokenTail Rescue will be bringing puppies and adult dogs who are available for adoption to introduce to everyone who is (even close to) interested in rescuing/ adopting a dog.

Broken Tail Rescue, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit foster-based rescue organization dedicated to the rescue of unwanted and abandoned dogs and cats in urgent need. They work closely with local animal controls, animal shelters and rescue groups to ensure the placement of these animals in need. They do not discriminate on the basis of health, age, or breed.

Their animals are vet examined, vaccinated, spayed or neutered as needed and receive any and all medical treatment necessary prior to being placed into carefully screened permanent homes.

On Sunday they will have adult dogs and puppies at Crate, who are hoping to find their forever home.

Join us and bring your friends!

No Father’s Day Celebration for our Daycare Pups!
….unless they are celebrating their caretakers’s father status. Our rule that all males must be neutered by 7 months old has many benefits for both individual dogs and the dog population overall. In the last ten years we have all become aware of the dog over population and how many dogs are euthanized every day. Many of us support many causes with missions to right the injustice. The truth is that the best way to decrease dog populations to ‘manageable’ numbers is to spay and neuter. The simple awareness of that fact and the increasing care (both ways) of dogs has definitely started the ball rolling. (tennis ball? planet dog ball? chuck-it? throw it!)

CRATE ESCAPE AND Crate Escape too
Both daycares are easing in to summer, saying, ‘see you in September’ to their canine friends who take the summer off. We would like to reiterate that if your dog is not on a regular schedule, please call 24 hours in advance to make a daycare reservation. And re: the van, it is hard to change schedules the day of your dog’s attendance, so be sure to let us know of any changes in pick up or drop off the day before. And (#2) don’t forget that anytime you refer a new dog to daycare, and the dog comes for a couple of weeks you get a free day of daycare! Woofwoof!

Enjoy the sun!
