HOW IT ALL BEGAN
CAMBRIDGE’S CRATE ESCAPE TOO:
Early spring of 2002 a sweet Jack Russell Terrier, soon to be named Ernestine, powered into this world. Not too long after she would find her family and change their lives forever. She was a spunky girl who was very smart, lovable and energetic. It was love right from the start. Bradley, working as a UPS driver, and Stephanie, pursuing her career in retail with her jewelry store Topaz in the Chestnut Hill area, hated the idea of going to work every day and leaving their precious Ernestine behind. In pursuit of feeding their new fur baby all the best foods and treats, they discovered their passion for excellent dog care. At that moment, Raining Cats and Dogs (later to be named Crate Escape Too) was conjured up as a dream. A dream that could give them the freedom to spend every day with Ernestine and supply the community with the best doggy treats, foods, and toys. They just happened to stumble upon a retail rental in Huron Village, Cambridge MA. Officially opening the doors of their first store in April 2004. It was hit in the village, an already doggy forward community.
Originally, the focus of the space was retail. Never even considering the need for services until one fateful day when their very first customer walked through the door, Brady Arnold, a standard black poodle puppy needing a doggy-sitter while his mom went to work. The rest is history!
A few years later it was apparent they needed more space to accommodate all their new furry friends and that’s when the Belmont facility, Crate Escape, was born.

BELMONT:
In 2005 Bradley and Stephanie realized their little store could no longer accommodate all the dogs that wanted to come. They began looking for a location that would offer more space and were lucky enough to find one in Belmont.
In January of 2006 the original Crate Escape was born just 2 miles down the road. The building offered everything we needed to expand our services and ability to have more dogs. After almost 6 years we moved across the street to an even larger location; we are happy to call 30 Brighton Street our flagship location.

THE MOVE TO THE CITY
CHARLESTOWN:
Our 3rd location was opened in Charlestown in January of 2013. The building was perfect for dog daycare offering a large open space with lots of natural light, 5 play spaces and even outdoor space.
We were excited about the ability to reach customers in the Boston area and to be part of such a unique community. We are neighbors of the Charlestown Naval Yard, nestled under the Tobin Bridge-our claim to fame!

LUXURY BOARDING AT SUITE ESCAPE:
We opened Suite Escape, Boston's luxury dog hotel, in 2016. Located at our Charlestown facility, we provide the best care for your dog, offering modern dog accommodations, amenities, and round the clock care. From the sparkling glass suites to the walks in the Naval Yard, we strive to give the finest of care to your pet in this all-inclusive facility. When it's time to leave your best buddy because you're traveling, why not choose the next best thing to home?

RETAIL SPACE AT WALDEN:
Crate Escape at Walden opened its doors in early May 2021 after a little over a year's worth of renovation and city permitting. Recognizing the need for both convenient and curated shopping, we opened our full-service retail space. Our intention is to carry the highest quality dog and cat products available, allowing you to shop with peace of mind, knowing that we have the best to offer you and your beloved pet!
